Transforming A Guest Bathroom to a Spa-Like Feel

It's been a busy, busy life. I hope I keep growing and learning as I go along. I love helping family, friends and clients when they need help with Interior Design or Event Planning. I finish one thing, then start another. Many great projects are coming up with my wonderful clients!

I just finished a small guest bath with a spa-like feel. The clients love how it turned out! Not only does it provide well for their own guests, it adds value to their home. I am showing the "after" pictures first! As you scroll down, you will see why the "before" pictures are on the bottom.

AFTER
I used soothing shades of warm gray and beige, with dark cabinetry and white accents. Glass tile accented the back splash and shower wall.

The client chose a 36" high counter top, great for most teenagers and adults (a young guest could use a little stool.) The toilet is also raised higher than traditional-- it is called "comfort height".

The cabinet is open underneath to allow for rolled up towels.

I added a strip of glass tile to give the shower wall some interest and color.

The softly curved vessel sink  with a tall faucet gives a contemporary look.

Apothecary Jars are filled with necessities.

Adding well chosen, attractive accessories makes the room feel complete.

Now I will show you some before photos. As you can see, the bathroom had a complete makeover!

BEFORE
The bathroom was outdated.

The tiled counter tops were not only old fashioned, they were falling apart.

Tiles were broken. Some of the pieces were even missing.

The medicine chest was a waste of space.

This was the original sink.

The hinges on the cabinet doors had broken.

What a transformation!

I am at High Point for the first time!

I am so excited to be at High Point Market event in North Carolina today! Since this is my first time at market, I really had to have a plan to keep myself on track. My goals have been to attend learning events and see the showrooms that represent the sources I have in my area. I also sneaked in a few new and unexpected stops. I tried to schedule loosely so I could have serendipitous moments in my day, and sure enough I did. I was looking for unusual, interesting pieces, and I found many. In later posts I will talk about those things, as well as what I have learned about new trends for the near future. I have lots of photos, so stay tuned.

Interior Design Career Development Day!!! We ate, talked design, and had fun!!!

I had a fine time today at the Arizona Design Center. Our ASID Arizona North Chapter hosted a career development day. I was on the committee to set up the speakers.  I was able to line up a fabulous keynote speaker, national marketing expert Fred Burns. He gave a wonderful presentation on marketing our businesses. I spent a little time chatting with him to and from the airport and felt that was the bonus of the day. At the event, I had such a great time meeting my designer friends and industry partners.

A shout out to Jill  who headed the committee... high five!!! And to Bev and Tracey and Ellen and everyone else who made this such a success! I especially appreciate the other speakers, ASID National President Lisa B. Henry, FASID, LEED AP, and Michael Thomas, FASID for contributing so much.

I left the conference with so many ideas. Now I have to go make it happen!
